3 Idiots
As a follow up to Munnabhai, Hirani and Chopra, create a mish mashed version of 3-point someone. In 3-idiots, the anglo indian genius with a rich papa and a scooty is replaced by a servile monglo indian from Simla, with a strange gujarati name, and a happy go lucky manner. The scooty belongs to the professor's daughter, his love interest played by Kareena, and he is not a 5-pointer. Instead he has all the annoying qualities of a maverick someone from a feel good Hollywood script. Ms Kapoor is hard on the ears and Boman Irani is a bit too north indian even to play a Sahasrabuddhe from Delhi. But we can forgive a few shortcomings in an otherwise intelligent IIT based script, the name IIT being replaced by "Imperial College". To begin with, the film uses some rather good camera work and editing. This is something familiar from Munna Bhai. Hirani-Chopra are not bad technically. Then, the characters especially of the out of context Chatur and competitive Sahasrabuddhe are colored out well. Notably, the scene in which Sahasrabuddhe is listening to the Opera and gets his mustache removed, the one with Chatur's speech as also the opening ragging scene are all brilliant. Hirani Chopra are pretty good at not saying things. In 3-idiots, they manage to skirt the prospect of giving the IITans a socialite bear hug, through Aamir's sympathetic digs at competition, and frequent blurting out at professor's for not encouraging innovation. Most of the feel good, though, is underscored by certain nuanced observations about middle class life. What is said indirectly through the comic description of poorly financed students compensates for the overt moralistic banalia about changing the education system. If we are strong headed enough to find a bad family situation darkly comic and use it to taunt them, then creativity and innovation would be secondary to survival. The character of Suhas "Price Tag" Tandon is crafty. There is no analog in the book. But his being a banker, his wierd accent, taste for opera and branded apparel are contrasted, intelligently, with the classical indian high thinking not so high living perspective on life, represented by the professor's daughter, the three idiots, and the Professor's family dictum : If it's a boy, he will be an engineer, if it's a girl, she will be a doctor. Hirani and Chopra splice in a rather cool remixed Classical 50's style number somewhere in the film, but will Bebo stop screwing obvious good opportunities to shine.

There are several films that could be said to fall into that category, to list some of them:
1. The Matrix.
2. Memento.
3. 3 Idiots.
4. A Clockwork orange.

In this blog we shall put forth our analyses and interpretations of films like these and use the such films as a basis to express our thoughts about various fundamental things about personal and social life. welcome to thedeepercritic.blogspot.com
